Well…we have arrived here in Kennesaw, Georgia for the FIRST-ever Shaky Boots festival, gathered our press passes and pre-gamed no other way than by having a juicy steak at Texas Roadhouse. After talking with locals Donnie and Vivian, I think we are a little more prepared for what’s about to take place tomorrow at the KSU Sports and Entertainment Park.
Located just North of Atlanta, Kennesaw has been home to the sister festival Shaky Knees for the past three years, which hosts a variety of genres including indie rock, pop rock and a little punk rock.
With that said, Co-founder of both Shaky Knees and Shaky Boots festivals, Tim Sweetwood, felt it was time for the South to host a country festival. In a write-up by CMT, Sweetwood states, “I was surprised that Georgia doesn’t have a first-class festival dedicated to the genre. Music is my absolute passion, and with the overwhelmingly positive response to Shaky Knees in three short years, it just felt like the right time to launch Shaky Boots.”
I’ve attended Stagecoach that takes place every year in Indio, California, the deserts largest country music festival on the west coast. I’m excited to finally see a festival like this come to the east coast with an amazing line-up to back it up.
The two-day event kicks off tomorrow with the Songs for Kids taking the Peachtree stage at 12:15pm, Brooke Eden at 12:30pm (Piedmont Stage), and Amanda Shires at 12:30 (Ponce De Leon stage.) Headliner Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley and Dwight Yoakam will close the first night of the festival on Saturday, May 16th. Other familiar artists include Jana Kramer, Joe Nichols, The Band Perry, Kip Moore, Jason Isbell, Craig Wayne Boyd, Kristian Bush, John and Jacob, Clare Dunn, Justin Moore, Rascal Flatts, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Brad Paisley. For a full schedule of acts listed to play at the festival, please visit the Shaky Boots website at http://shakyboots.com.
We are especially looking forward to catching up with some of the newer artists in country music this weekend and will be sharing our recap of the festival with you soon.
